A One Day Meditation and Yoga Retreat

Did you know that asana was traditionally a preparation for meditation? and that the last three limbs of Pantanjali’s Classical Yoga are all meditation? So, deepen your practice, by joining us for an all day retreat of meditation and yoga.  Three silent meditation sessions, two yoga classes and a silent meditation lunch.
“Calmness, gentleness, silence, self-restraint and purity: these are the disciplines of the mind” ~ Baghavad Gita, 17.16 ~  Offered bi-monthly.

Pantanjali’s Yoga Sutras

An in-depth course exploring Pantanjali’s Yoga Sutras will be offered once each year.  Next course begins April, 2018.  Email info@dhirayogacenter.com for more info or to reserve a spot.

The Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad-gita is a conversation between Arjuna, a gifted warrior about to go into battle, and Krishna, his charioteer. In the course of giving Arjuna all manner of spiritual and material advice, Krishna explains karma, the self, the Supreme Self, the purpose and varieties of yoga, the difference between our self and our physical body and how to live life in the best possible way. The Gita appears as a central chapter in the Mahabharata, the history of greater India.

This 8 session course will meet every Wednesday evening from 7:15 to 8:30 pm. The course will require weekly reading and the purchase of a text.  It will be a seminar format where we will question, discuss and perhaps even debate. Sure to enrich your understanding of yoga philosophy. Limited enrollment Register Here

The Upanishads

The earliest philosophical roots of yoga are found in the texts of the classical Upanishads, which are about 2,500 years old. This tradition of mystical yoga teachings continued in the later Upanishads about 500 years ago.    The Upanishads offer a vision of an interconnected universe with a single, unifying principle behind the apparent diversity in the cosmos, any articulation of which is called Brahman.    If you are curious about the philosophy of yoga, then take a journey to its source. Come together with a small group to explore the Upanishads. This 10 session course will meet every Wednesday evening from 7:15 to 8:15 pm. The course will require regular reading, the purchase of a text and will be a seminar where we will question, discuss and perhaps even debate. Sure to enrich your understanding of yoga philosophy.   Register Here
